The 66th Jersey City Puerto Rican Day Parade & Festival, an outdoor cultural celebration, will be held on August 15 & 16. It is free & open to the public.
Puerto Rican pride will take over Jersey City for the weekend to celebrate Puerto Rican culture and heritage. The festival will feature live music, dancing, food, vendors and family friendly activities.
The parade and festival are hosted by Jersey City Puerto Rican Heritage Arts & Culture Committee. These annual events bring together thousands of residents, families, performers, vendors and local organizations. The Committee works to celebrate the historical, cultural and artistic contributions of Jersey City’s Puerto Rican community through events, education and youth programs.
My favorite part of a festival is the food. Try a tostone, a twice fried plantain or have mofongo, Puerto Rico’s beloved national dish. Be sure to come hungry!
The Puerto Rican Day Parade will be happening on Sunday at 12 pm, beginning at Lincoln Park. You can expect to see performances, musical groups, cultural organizations, colorful floats, dancers and so much more. They will all be showing their Puerto Rican pride as the parade winds its way through Jersey City.
