You will also hear how Charlestonians turned on pirates, hanging 30 of them. Their bodies were put on poles (like scarecrows) and put in the water at the battery to warn other pirates to stay away.
You’ll hear true stories of Charleston filled with tragedy, murder, betrayal, scandal and war. Countless people have reported seeing soldiers in uniforms from the Revolutionary War and the Civil War, so be on the lookout. You never know who or what you might see after dark in Charleston.
Your tour will visit The Griffon, an intimate English pub. It’s known for its award winning Fish & Chips. The building dates back centuries. You’ll hear about its Woman in White, phantom sounds and unexplained phenomena.
You’ll learn about boo hags which many people in the Low Country believe are evil spirits that use voodoo or witchcraft to manipulate people and steal their energy. Just hope a boo hag won’t follow you home.
