You may have visited the Royal Hospital Chelsea in London before, but you’ve probably never seen it quite like this. It has been transformed for the Christmas season for the special event, Christmas in Chelsea.
The Royal Hospital Chelsea has long been an iconic part of London. It was founded by King William III and Queen Mary II back in 1692 as a retirement home for veterans of the British Army. It is home to around 300 veterans and has a museum, a garden, and more. It is also now a popular tourist attraction. And of course, now it is home to Christmas in Chelsea.
The transformation starts in the historic Ranelagh Gardens, which have been transformed into a Christmas lights trail. It is full of illuminated trees, arches, and Christmas displays. Walking through this trail can be fun for families or even romantic for a couple on a date.
There is also a festive market where you can do some Christmas or Hanukkah shopping. Artisans sell handmade gifts there. You can also get delicious treats there, like roasted chestnuts, hot chocolate, or mulled wine.
Speaking of food, gourmet street caterers are there selling items like bratwurst and raclette. Moroccan cuisine is available as well as Vegan options.
And to give this event that extra special Christmas cheer, there are carolers onsite singing classic and modern Christmas songs. That helps make the event as iconic of a holiday event as it is a London destination!
