The holiday season will begin in Detroit with the Detroit Tree Lighting on Friday, November 17, 2023, from 4 pm to 9 pm. It is the 20th anniversary special edition of this free Detroit event. The entertainment for this will include Olympic figure skaters, Detroit skating club, a band, a choir, singers and more. There will also be a holiday market, food trucks and unique lighting displays in downtown Detroit.
Nathan Chen, Olympic gold medal winner, will perform at the Rink at Campus Martius Park.

The tree is a 64 foot Michigan grown Norway spruce decked out with ornaments. Santa will do the countdown and the tree will be illuminated by thousands of shimmering multi-colored lights!
