Looking to take a Walt Disney World vacation in Orlando, Florida during the holiday season? Then one charming hotel that would significantly add to your travel experience would be Disney’s Port Orleans French Quarter hotel.
Christmas Decorations
The Christmas decorations at Disney’s Port Orleans Resort – French Quarter are really great. I love how you can find them inside the lobby and registration area as well as outside. I really like Christmas tree, too, and how it is themed to the New Orleans/French Quarter/Mardi Gras theme of the hotel.
Christmas Music
I love the music they play at Disney’s Port Orleans French Quarter any time of the year. But it is really neat to hear the music play during the holiday. I love hearing holiday favorites in a New Orleans-style jazz arrangement. I think this is some of the best holiday music at Disney World. Breakfast at Port Orleans French Quarter’s quick service restaurant, Sassagoula Floatworks and Food Factory, is even better when you get to listen to this style of music.
Boat Ride to Disney Springs
A great thing about Port Orleans – French Quarter is that you can take a boat to Disney Springs. Disney Springs is an entertainment and shopping district that’s part of the Walt Disney World Resort. Unlike the Disney theme parks and water parks, visiting Disney Springs is completely free. It makes a great place to visit say on the first night of your trip if you don’t want to pay for a theme park that day.
And a great reason to visit Disney Springs during the holiday springs are their Christmas trees! They have gorgeous Christmas trees displayed throughout Disney Springs themed to different Disney movies or characters. If you love holiday decorations, than a visit to Disney Springs just for the Christmas trees is worth it during the Christmas season. But there are other great Christmas activities there like meeting Santa and a DJ dance party at night. You can find out more in our Disney Springs Christmas Guide.
Horse and Carriage Ride
A neat feature of Disney’s Port Orleans – French Quarter is that you can get a horse and carriage ride there. This is fun any time of the year, but can be special during the holiday season.
This is because the weather is often colder during the holiday season. Though this is Florida, so I have worn shorts and a tank top at night during the holiday season.
But there is a possibility it might be at least a little chilly at night. And then a horse and carriage ride can be a bit like a sleigh ride. You can put on a blanket and enjoy the cozy ride.
Booking Port Orleans French Quarter
Port Orleans: French Quarter is considered a “moderate” resort which means it’s not the most expensive Disney hotel but it isn’t the cheapest either. But one way you can save on a stay at Port Orleans French Quarter is booking your stay here. They offer the best prices on Disney moderate hotels – often even better than booking on Disney’s website with a passholder discount. That’s how I’ve been staying at moderate hotels the past couple of years.
And you’ll enjoy staying at Port Orleans French Quarter. Even without the holiday decorations, it is a beautiful hotel. You can see it in our Port Orleans – French Quarter virtual tour.
