My family travels to Orlando, Florida. A lot. And we recently made a trip to Orlando so we could attend Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party at Disney World, SeaWorld’s Christmas Celebration, and the holiday celebration at Universal Orlando. Coming from North Carolina, it’s too long of a drive for one day so we like to break it up. One of the places we like staying on the way back in Savannah, Georgia.
I had booked a stay at MainStay Suites in Savannah, Georgia. Unfortunately, when I got there, I was told that even though I had booked a stay there, there was no room available for me (!). Long story short, I was able to get a refund, but I needed a place to stay.
But luckily, there was still room available at Clarion Pointe Savannah Gateway I-95. I made a quick reservation and we were able to check in to our hotel. And I am so glad we were able to book our stay! I’ll go over why in this review.
Location
One of the best things about this hotel is the location. As the name implies, it is right off I-95. It makes it really easy for us to get right back on the road the next morning.
But it’s also a great location if you just want a vacation in Savannah. Which is great since Savannah is such a wonderful city to visit (a personal favorite vacation spot for my family). There is an Old Town Trolley stop right in front of the hotel!
Old Town Trolley is a great way to see Savannah. It’s not only a guided tour around the city, but there are stops along the way so you can step off and explore top Savannah attractions, like River Street and Pirate’s House. You can book this tour at a discounted price, too, by clicking here.
So whether you just want a stay on the way to Florida or you want a long vacation in Savannah, this is a great choice.
There are also multiple dining options nearby. Now when I was there, it was Saturday night so there was a wait, but there is a Houlihan’s and a Cracker Barrel just down the street. To get there, you don’t even have to go back on I-95 if you want to drive. But you can also walk. There’s also a McDonald’s nearby. We ate there and while the service was definitely not the greatest, it hit the spot (and was quick which we liked since there was a college football game on we wanted to watch). If you want to drive a little farther there are other dining options like Applebee’s and Ruby Tuesday. So the proximity to dining options is a definite plus.
And it’s close to other Savannah attractions. It is five minutes from the Savannah Festival Outlet Center if you like shopping (which I do). It is also fifteen minutes from the Savannah Historic District which is of course a must-do when you are traveling to Savannah. The Savannah/Hilton Head International Airport is also fifteen minutes away if you are flying into Savannah.
Rooms
The rooms were incredibly attractive. They were a cut above what you might expect from a standard chain hotel room. What I really liked about the room was the picture on the wall behind the beds.
As you can see, there is an amazing picture of Savannah, the Savannah River, and River Street. You can see the beautiful buildings of Savannah. It really makes you excited that you are vacationing in Savannah.
I had a room for four and I liked that there were two queen beds. The beds were comfortable, too. There was also a chair you can sit in and relax or watch TV (like the aforementioned college football game, which my team won, thank you very much). You don’t always see that in rooms with two queen beds, so I liked that.
There’s another chair with the desk in the room.
The room had enough space for four people and our luggage.
It also great amenities like a coffee maker, refrigerator, and microwave.
There were also plenty of outlets and USB ports for your devices like your phones, tablets, e-readers, etc.
And if you want more space, you can book a Suite with a Kitchenette, but obviously, that costs more money. Our room was a standard room with two Queen Beds.
Free Breakfast
Another big perk of this hotel is the continental breakfast. I will say, though, that they do not have a huge selection. They don’t have a lot of hot, freshly made food like eggs, sausage, or bacon. You can get biscuits and gravy. They do have a waffle maker. You can also get mini muffins, toast, cereal, or apples. But that’s about it.
Having said this, I did enjoy the mini muffins and waffles.
And there is plenty of seating for your breakfast.
Other Amenities
There’s a lobby with seating when you walk in. What I really like about the lobby is similar to the rooms, there are great pictures of Savannah up that make you really excited for your Savannah vacation.
There’s a small business center in the lobby with a computer and a printer in case you need it.
They have a fitness center and a seasonal pool.
Price
But one of the best aspects of Clarion Pointe Savannah Gateway I-95 is the price. It is an incredibly affordable option for staying in Savannah, Georgia. Conclusion
Whether you are just staying there a night on-route or leaving Orlando or you are planning a vacation in Savannah, Clarion Pointe Savannah Gateway I-95 is a great choice for your hotel. It is affordable, has well-decorated and spacious rooms with comfortable beds, a modest but free breakfast, and a convenient location.
