Mackinac Island State Park is also a great travel destination.  Other great travel destinations in Mackinac Island include Great Lakes Shipwreck Museum and Whitefish Point Light Station.  And then of course is the beach!

So, now may be the time you are starting to plan your summer vacation this year.  If so, I am sure you would love a family vacation at Mackinac Island.  And I am sure you would like to book your vacation for the best rate available.

Mackinac Island Family Vacation Package

So what does this Mackinac Island Family Vacation Package include?

It gives you:

  • 4 Nights’ Lodging in your choice of over 24 hotels
  • Tickets to the Great Lakes Shipwreck Museum & Whitefish Point Light Station

This can make for a very wonderful family vacation!

First of all, I love that you can choose your hotel.  That gives you a lot of flexibility and the ability to customize your own vacation.

But I also love the inclusion of the activities, too.  Let me tell you more about these activities.

Great Lakes Shipwreck Museum

The Great Lakes Shipwreck Museum is very unique and the only attraction of its kind.  It is a museum centered on the perils of maritime transport on the Great Lakes, as well as the heroism.  It has lots of artifacts and exhibits where you learn about famous sailors and ships.

You’ll definitely want to check out the Lighthouse Keeper’s Quarters and the Coast Guard Lifesaving Crews Quarters.  They’ve been restored to their turn-of-the-century appearance with mannequins there, too!  The Shipwreck Theater has a twenty-minute video presentation.  You can take a guided tour of the 1923 Surfboat House and Exhibits.

This is also a great place to go if you like mysteries.  You can learn more about the mystery of Edmund Fitzgerald.  You can learn more about the mystery of this ship and how it (not to mention the 29-member crew) went missing on Lake Superior on November 10, 1975.

The Whitefish Point Light Station is also part of the Great Lakes Shipwreck Museum.  It is registered as a Historic Site on the National Register of Historic Places.  The Whitefish Point Light Tower is famous for being Lake Superior’s oldest operating lighthouse.  It has been in continuous operation for over 150 years.
