In a few months, Beijing, China will be the host of the Winter Olympics, but it wasn’t too long ago that Beijing was the host of the Summer Olympics. The Beijing National Aquatics Center was built for the 2008 Beijing Summer Olympics. It was used for swimming, diving, and synchronized swimming. It became known as the Water Cube.
But after 2008, the Water Cube got a new purpose. Because a portion of the complex was transformed into a water park!
The Beijing Water Cube Water Park first opened on 28 July 2010. And it quickly became a favorite of tourists visiting Beijing. In fact, it is now the number two tourist spot in Beijing, right after the Great Wall of China! It is a wonderful place to cool off in the summer heat. And it is a lot of fun, too.
You can climb up one of Water Cube’s different slides and then glide down. There are water slides available for all ages.
Want a little more adventure? Grab a raft and go round and round on the Deep-water Tornado ride.
Other fun rides include the Aqualoop and the Ridehouse. And of course, you can have fun swimming in the pool!
There’s a fun water playground where kids can jump in balls and get sprayed by water.
Water Cube has really cool interior areas. One of the best is the area where you’ll feel like you are literally underwater before you even get under the water.
