If you love the famous Nordic-themed Moomin cartoon by Tove Jansson – or you just love fun – then you are going to love visiting Moominvalley Park in Hanno, Japan!
The first theme park themed to the Moomin cartons is Moomin World and it’s located in Southwest Finland. But Moominvalley Park was the second theme park themed to the Moomin carton and the first in Japan.
It brings to life the valley that the fictional Moomin characters live. It recreates the look and the feel of the fictional Moominvalley. Moominvalley Park stays true to its Finnish heritage and most of the signs and park attractions are in Finnish. The entire park is divided into four sections: Moominvalley, Hajimari no Irie, Osabishiyama, and Kokemus.
Here are the main attractions of Moominvalley:
Welcome Gate
When you enter the park, you’ll be at the Welcome Gate. The Welcome Gate makes you feel like you have entered a storybook. There are photo cutouts here and these make great photo opportunities! There is also a pancake restaurant, Lettula, located at the Welcome Gate.
Little My’s Play Spots (Pikku Myyn leikkipaikka)
This is an interactive theater attraction. It includes short programs starting Little My. The audience gets to take part in Little My’s mischief here.
Oshun Oxtra (Merenhuiske)
