The Lunar New Year is also known as the Spring Festival or the Chinese New Year. This year it will begin on January 22, 2022, and the New Year celebrations will continue for 15 days. It is one of the most celebrated holidays in Asia and each year it gains in popularity in the U.S.
Instead of following the Gregorian Calendar, the Lunar New Year follows the Chinese Lunar Calendar. This is set to lunar phases, solar solstices and equinoxes. The Lunar New Year is connected to the new moon that occurs between the middle of January and late February.
2023 is the Year of the Water Rabbit. The sign of the Rabbit is a symbol of peace, prosperity and longevity in Chinese culture. 2023 is predicted to be a year of hope. People born in the Year of the Rabbit are said to be quick thinking, witty, ingenious and courteous.
The Vancouver Canucks will be celebrating Lunar New Year of the Rabbit on January 24, 2023. This is when the Canucks will be playing the Chicago Blackhawks at 7 pm in the Rogers Arena. This is the Canucks’ fifth annual Lunar New Year celebration.
This game will be fun to watch especially if the Canucks are your favorite team. But the Lunar New Year celebration makes it extra special.
