Himalaya Airlines is a relatively new airline that operates out of Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu, Nepal. It started offering flights in 2016. Right away Himalaya Airlines earned accolades, as it won the Leading New International Airlines in South Asia award by the South Asian Travel Awards (SATA) in 2017.
Per Himalaya Airlines press releases, Himalaya Airlines has multiple distinctions for Nepalese airlines:
- They are the first registered IOSA operator in Nepal (The International Air Transportation Association’s Operational Safety Audition program)
- Himalaya Airlines connects the two capital cities of Nepal and China (Kathmandu & Beijing, respectively), making Himalaya Airlines the only Nepali airline to operate direct flights between Nepal and China
