French Festival at Central Park Bastille Day Celebration in New York City Guide

Celebrate Bastille Day at the French Festival in Central Park in New York City. Jeremie Robert, Consul General of France in New York, welcomes you to a journey through French culture.

Similar to the U.S. Independence Day, Bastille Day celebrates the overthrow of the monarchy and the start of the French Revolution. The French Festival will be happening in Rumsey Playfield on July 14, 2022, from 6 pm to 10 pm. It is open to the public and it is free.

Bastille Day Schedule

  • 6 pm – The Cadets Lafayette will perform under the musical direction of Jacques LeTalon. Consul General Robert will give a welcoming address, followed by Gerard Eselbaum, President of the French Speaking Societies of New York. The French and American national anthems will be sung by Marie Viapiano,
  • 6:30 pm – Violinists Virgil Boutellis and Daniel Rafimayeri and oboist Adam Leites will perform French classical music. FlexN dancer Cal Hunt and hip hop dancer Jai Quin Coleman will join the musicians for a dance performance.
  • 7pm – 2022 marks the 400th birth anniversary of France’s most famous playwright, Moliere. The professional actors of Moliere in the Park will perform “The Imaginary Cuckold,” a short and hilarious performance.
  • 7:40 pm – China Moses and her band will perform great French classics, including
    • Vie En Rose
    • La Javanaise
    • J’ai Deux Anonis
    • and much more.
  • 8:30 pm – DeLaurentis, an French electro pop artist, will give a concert, combining tracks of her album, Unica, with covers of Piaf, Gainsbourg and more. Cal Hunt will dance to Bolero de Ravel.
  • 9:10 pm – The festival will end with a DJ set by Joachim Gerraud, famed DJ and a producer for the French electronic scene.
