The New York City Lantern Festival returns for a third year at Staten Island’s Snug Harbor Cultural Center and Botanical Garden. The botanical garden will be transformed into a magical place of illumination.
Take an enchanting journey through eight acres of luminescence. Step into a world of light.
The theme of the 2021 Festival is “Escape.” The grounds will feature fields of flowers, open sky and a deep sea adventure.
As the sun sets, the garden will come to life with blazing lights and colors. There are over 1,000 hand made lanterns and more than fifty over the top light displays. Go through a tunnel of lights.
At this Chinese style lantern festival, the lanterns are sculptured into amazing figures. You’ll see birds, dragons, panas, dinosaurs, fish, flowers and so much more. Enjoy the festival lights and amazing sights.
You can choose your very own wish lantern from the field of lights. Decorate the lantern at the Art Table. The charge for the wish lantern is $5. Take it home with you and wait for your wish to come true.
Food vendors will be there selling festive foods from around the world. Soft drinks, hot chocolate and beverages are also available for purchase. The festival will have a live DJ spinning the hits. There will also be projection mapping. Visit the Gift Shop for one of a kind holiday goods, stylish souvenirs, artisan gifts and more.
