Have you ever wondered what it would be like to be in space? How would you like to experience this without leaving New York City?
Destination Cosmos: The Immersive Space Experience is an 8-week exhibition at Hall des Lumières. It was created in collaboration with NASA and CNES. It is a digital exhibition where you’ll feel like you’ve actually entered outer space. You’ll feel like you’ve entered into a maze of stars, planets, supernovae and nebulae.
The whole experience is composed of thirteen sequences as well as a prologue. It begins at Cape Canaveral. You’ll then depart Earth and travel to Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, and beyond the solar system. How it works is that state-of-the-art technology makes the floors and walls feel as if you are actually taking this trip. It’s a really neat experience.
Hall des Lumières is located in the historic Emigrant Industrial Savings Bank in the Civic Center neighborhood of Manhattan (which is just north of City Hall Park). Hall des Lumières is open during the following days and times:
- Sunday: 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM
- Monday: 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM
- Tuesday: Closed
- Wednesday: 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM
- Thursday: 10:00 AM to 10:00 PM
- Friday: 10:00 AM to 10:00 PM
- Sunday: 10:00 AM to 10:00 PM
