Want a touch of Pittsburgh during your Hilton Head Island trip? You can get that by enjoying a nice lunch or dinner at Nick’s Steak & Seafood!
This is a restaurant my family recently discovered during our last trip to Hilton Head Island, South Carolina. You can get that Pittsburgh feeling right when you walk through the door. There are great Pittsburgh pictures and memorabilia throughout the restaurant. My favorite is Lynn Swann’s Pittsburgh Steelers jersey. They also have Mario Lemieux’s Pittsburgh Penguins jersey.
They have a bar with multiple TVs up.
You just know they show say Steelers football or Penguins hockey games when they are on TV.
Food
There are also touches of Pittsburgh throughout the menu. And speaking of the menu, we really like it. That is the main reason we chose this restaurant. We really liked how the food was relatively affordable. For example, the steak there is a lot less expensive than you see at other restaurants throughout Hilton Head Island. And they have a great mix of burgers, sandwiches, and, of course, steaks and seafood.
And as it turned out, we liked everything we ordered. Their Fried Shrimp is really good.
The shrimp itself tastes great, and the breading is really tasty as well.
The New York Strip, as I mentioned before, is one of the most affordable steak options you can find on the island. And it was really good, too. It came with green beans and mashed potatoes which were also good.
They have a great burger option, too. One of the burger options that was most appealing to us was the build-your-own burger option.
We love those burger options since everyone in my family loves burgers, but we all have some differences on what we like on the burgers. It was great to have the option to customize it to our liking. How it works is that it starts with two 1/4 lb. Certified Angus Beef Burger Patties. Then you can add on toppings for a small additional fee. You can add Duke’s Coleslaw Bourbon sauce, Sautéed Onions, and/or House Pickles for just $0.55 more. Then for $1.25 more, you could add Bacon Cheddar, American Bleu Cheese, and/or Mushrooms Swiss.
The only thing we didn’t like on our burgers were the house-made pickles. Those in my family who normally like pickles did not care for these pickles, unfortunately. But this did not change our opinions of liking the burgers.
Additional Restaurant Information
By the way, one thing to note about eating here: we came on a Friday night and as the website suggested, we called beforehand to get a reservation. They had one about an hour from the time we called. We took it and then were able to just leave our hotel room and get there a couple of minutes before our reservation. Then we checked in and went right to our table. It was very convenient so I do recommend calling to get a reservation before you go, especially if you visit on a busy night like us (it was Friday night).
The whole restaurant has a nice, fun, casual atmosphere. There is even seating outside so you can enjoy the beautiful area (though it was far too hot when we were there to eat outside!).
Location
Nick’s Steak and Seafood has a great location on the island close to a lot of hotels. It was convenient from where we were staying, which was Grand Hilton Head Inn (you can find a good price for the hotel here – and we definitely recommend staying at this hotel!). It is also convenient to other lodging options, with a six-minute drive or less to nearby hotels like Springhill Suites Hilton Head Island, Southwind II at Shipyard, Carolina Club by Spinnaker Resorts.
Conclusion
Nick’s Steak and Seafood is a restaurant my family wholeheartedly recommends. With its delicious, reasonable prices, and great, casual atmosphere, it makes a great addition to any Hilton Head Island trip. And its Pittsburgh theming makes it extra special for anyone who loves the Steel City!
