Get ready to rock your way to 2024 at an exciting live show with Southern Culture on the Skids!  This will be happening on December 30 and 31, 2023, at the Pearl Street Warehouse in Washington, D.C.

Rolling Stone magazine has described Southern Culture on the Skids’ live shows as “…a hell raising rock & roll party,”  Others have described their music and their shows as foot stomping, butt shaking rock & roll.

Southern Culture on the Skids, sometimes known as SCOTS, is an American rock band from Chapel Hill, North Carolina.  They’ve been producing unique and rowdy rock & roll since the 1980s.  Their music is a blend of boogie, rockabilly, country, blues, American surfer, swamp pop and R&B.

SCOTS have been playing together for over 30 years.  Rick Miller is guitar and vocals, Dave Hartman on drums and Mary Huff is bass and vocals.  They began performing at all night North Carolina house parties and went from there to late night talk shows, including The Tonight Show and Conan O’Brien.  Southern Culture on the Skids have performed for the inmates at North Carolina correctional facilities and at the base of Mt. Fuji in Japan.  Music by SCOTS has been featured in movies and television shows and used in commercials.  They combine red hot music with off the wall humor and the result is extremely entertaining.

In 2014, Southern Culture on the Skids was honored by the Southern Folklife Collection at the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill.  There is an exhibition featuring their music and their cultural contributions.

SCOTS’ latest album is “At Home With Southern Culture on the Skids.”  You’ll hear songs from that album and you’ll also hear their hits from earlier EPs.

The opening act for SCOTS’ show on Saturday, December 20, 2023, will be Jumpin’ Juniper, a rockabilly band.  On New Year’s Eve, The Highballers, a Washington, D.C., based country band will be opening for them.

I’ve seen tickets for these shows going for $66 on online ticket broker sites.  Save $16 on each ticket by purchasing your tickets here:
