Ballard is a waterfront neighborhood in Seattle with trendy restaurants, indie shops, bars and craft breweries. The action is centered on historic Ballard Avenue. You’ll see bridges high in the sky as they open up to allow the passage of ships. You can wave at passengers on the Ballard Locks as their boats rise from the salt ocean water into fresh water lakes. Ballard truly is classic Seattle.
You’ll visit the Ballard Locks Visitor Center. The locks have been bringing boats between the salt water of Puget Sound and the fresh water of Lake Union and Lake Washington since 1911. Be on the lookout for sea lions and seals.
You’ll see Marvin’s Garden and the Carl S. English Botanical Garden. You’ll see the Ballard Avenue Historical District, one of the best areas in Seattle for restaurants, bars and shopping. And your tour will end at Skal Beer Hall.
