Your day will have an early start with a pick up at your San Francisco hotel. You’ll pass by the Presidio, a 1,500 acre park on a former military post, and the Palace of Fine Arts Theatre, a monumental structure built in 1915. You’ll go over the Pacific Ocean on the Golden Gate Bridge.

Muir Woods Tour

You’ll go through the Marin Headlands and stop at Muir Woods National Monument. Because of the early start, you’ll get there before most tour groups. You’ll learn from your professional guides why the Coastal Redwoods are so special.

Walk in the shadows of those massive trees that tower over 200 feet. You’ll have an hour to walk around and take in the native flora and fauna of the Golden State. See moss lined creeks, giant ferns, laurel trees, squirrels, butterflies and even a wild turkey or a white tailed deer if you’re lucky. Your guide can answer any questions you might have about Muir Woods.

California Wine Country Tour

Next you’ll head to the first tasting stop in Sonoma County. Enjoy the stunning California Wine Country landscapes as you go.

You’ll have a chance to stroll the grounds in the vineyard and take pictures. You will learn how wine is produced.

You’ll get three to five complimentary tastings and you might find a new favorite. Learn about the different varietals and get tips from your guide on how to taste wines like a sommelier.

Your next stop will be Sonoma Plaza for lunch. You can opt to purchase a gourmet dinner with wine pairing with the tour group. Or you can explore Sonoma Plaza and find a restaurant on your own. This is the largest plaza in California and has dozens of quaint shops, eateries and historic buildings.

After lunch, you’ll pass by the Sonoma Barracks. Your guide will tell you about the barracks which were built in 1836 to house Mexican Army troops under General Vallejo. It was the headquarters of a group of Americans during the brief insurrection in 1846 known as the Bear Flag Revolt.

You will enjoy visits to two more family owned boutique wineries. You’ll tour their vineyards and have 3 to 5 complimentary tastings at each winery. You can purchase bottles of wine that are not available in retail stores to take home with you.

Among the wineries you may visit are Mayo Family Winery, Cline Cellars, Kieu Hoang Winery, Muscardini Cellars, Trek Winery and Lake Sonoma Winery. At least one of the wineries will be in Napa Valley. That’s one of the things that make this tour special. Most tours will only take you to one or the other. On this tour, you will see both Sonoma and Napa.

Photo Opportunities

On the journey back to San Francisco, there will be a photo stop for pictures of the Golden Gate Bridge, the Pacific Ocean and the majestic San Francisco skyline.
