The Chinese New Year (CNY) will begin this year on February 10, 2024.  This is the year of the Dragon.  The Chinese believe the animal that rules the year of your birth influences personality and ultimately your future.

“Las Vegas is one of the top 8 places in the U.S. to celebrate Chinese New Year” – Forbes

This is the 13th annual Chinese New Year in the Desert.  During the last 12 years, CNY has grown so large it’s recognized as an official “Nevada 150” event.

On the first day of the first month of the Chinese lunar calendar, Las Vegas is transformed with red and gold decorations and extravagant displays.  You’ll see beautiful displays, flowers and lanterns at the Bellagio and The Venetian Resort Las Vegas.

Restaurants will be offering special dishes, special menus and special drinks.

The 13th annual Chinese New Year Ribbon Cutting Ceremony at Grand Canal Shoppes in The Venetian Resort will be kicked off.  The entertainment will be “Dotting the lion’s eyes” ritual performances.  This is free and open to the public.

The 13th annual CNY in the Desert Gala Dinner will follow the ceremony.  This will take place at Noodle Asia in the Grand Canal Shoppes at The Venetian Resort.  Enjoy a traditional family style Chinese dinner.

Downtown Summerlin begins its Year of the Dragon celebrations with their annual Lunar New Year Parade on Friday, February 9, 2024, at 6 pm.  You’ll see traditional dragon dances and lion dances, fan dancers, stilt walkers and so much more.

The big CNY Parade will take place on Friday, February 17, 2024, from 11 pm to 12 pm.  The parade begins at Fremont East Entertainment District.  The After Party will be in a Downtown Container Park.  The party will feature live entertainment.  Both the parade and the party will be free and open to the public.
