The Epcot Food and Wine Festival is one of my favorite events at the Walt Disney World Resort because it gives me a chance to try all kinds of new foods and drinks.  These food and drink options are spread throughout Epcot in different booths (you can read about them in our Epcot Food & Wine Festival guide).  Most of them are pop-up booths.

But one of these takes place in an actual restaurant at Epcot, and that is Connections Eatery.  Connections Eatery is the restaurant at the front of Epcot.

I love being able to go to Connections Eatery during the Epcot Food and Wine Festival for many reasons:

  • It is really convenient if you are coming to Epcot from the front of the theme park
  • It has tons of seating (which, to me, is way better than standing and eating)
  • It is indoors and air-conditioned

So for those reasons, choosing food from the festival from Connections Eatery is a great choice.  But it is also a great choice because they have some great menu items.

Before I go into my favorites, let me tell you what’s on the menu:

  • French Onion Burger
    • A gourmet beef patty topped with sweet caramelized onions and melty Gruyère cheese on a toasted brioche bun.
    • $14.49
  • Passion Fruit Cream Slush
    • A creamy and tropical blend of passion fruit, evaporated milk, vanilla, and coconut cream.
    • $6.49
    • Add rum for a Spirited Passion Fruit Cream Slush for $15.50
  • Chocolate Baumkuchen
    • Layers of German-style “tree cake” with a rich chocolate ganache and whipped cream.
    • $6.49

You can just order these menu items the way you would normally order food at Connections Eatery.  These are just added menu items that are only available during the festival.

Favorite Item: French Onion Burger

So our favorite menu item would have to be the French Onion Burger.  A neat thing about this menu item is portion-wise, it works even better for a meal than most of the other festival offerings.  You get a full-size burger and French Fries, rather than a small dish of an entree like you do at most of the other booths at the Food and Wine Festival.

How to save big on your dream Disney vacation

But that’s not the only reason to love the French Onion Burger here.  For starters, the meat alone was reason to love it.  It was delicious.  It would have been good on its own.

But luckily it wasn’t, because the whole burger was great.  The onions were just out of this world.  The gruyère cheese was amazing.

This was a menu item we had looked forward to, and sometimes when you look forward to something so much, you can get disappointed.  But that was definitely not the case here!

Runner Up: Chocolate Baumkuchen

Speaking of being a bit disappointed, I was a bit disappointed when I first bit into this dessert.  I am a big fan of German chocolate cake, so I had high expectations for it.  My first impression was that it was a bit on the dry side.

But as I kept eating it, the more I loved it.  And another family member absolutely loved it (from the beginning, too).

And of course, as you can see, the presentation is wonderful.  And I love Mickey on it!

So I would still recommend it, but not as highly as the French Onion Burger.
