Singapore is a great place to celebrate Christmas.  I mean, first of all, there is the weather.  The 30° Celsius (or 87° Fahrenheit) and the average low is 24° Celsius (or 76° Fahrenheit).

And then there are the beautiful Christmas decorations.  There are beautiful holiday decorations in Singapore.  And you can see them in the Big Bus Singapore Christmas Light-Up Tour.

Taking in the Christmas decor from the top of a Big Bus is a great way to see the holiday decor.  From the top of this double-decker bus, you will get amazing 360-degree views of the 3.1 kilometer stretch from Tanglin Mall to Plaza Singapura.  That is where you get to see Orchard Road lit up by dazzling arches of lights.  These Overstreet arches of lights are adorned with floral designs: red and rose gold poinsettias and blooming white Christmas roses.

The decorations are particularly special this year.  They are meant to celebrate a journey of hope and resilience, which I think is fitting for 2021.  The decor draws inspiration from Singapore’s botanical richness.  Because where flowers bloom, then hope blooms, too.

You also get to see iconic landmarks along the way.  These include:

  • The Singapore Flyer
  • The Esplanade
  • City Hall
  • Fort Canning

The bus drives through Bras Basah and back to Suntec City.  You even get to take a loop by the Fountain of Wealth, which is the world’s largest water fountain, for good luck before the end of the evening.
