July is the perfect time to stay at Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort or Disney’s Old Key West Resort!
David’s Vacation Club Rentals is running a special for Saratoga Springs & Old Key West for select dates in July 2017.
The savings are significant! For example, a 3 night stay in a Saratoga Springs standard studio from July 7 – July 10 (Friday through Monday) would be $450. That’s $450 total, not per night! Per night, it comes to $150. This is less expensive than the moderate Disney resorts generally are – and Saratoga Springs is a deluxe resort!
Making a room reservation through David’s Vacation Club Rentals involves something called renting points. If you have rented points before and are familiar with the process, keep reading. If not, don’t worry! Just skip ahead a little and we’ll fill you in!
For the select dates, David’s is offering a rate of $9 per point. (Usually, businesses like David’s rent around $16-18 per point, so this is a great deal.) This special is for new reservations only, with a minimum of 44 points.
If you’re interested in a last minute vacation to Disney, we suggest you go and check it out now! In our experience, similar deals for Saratoga Springs and Old Key West are quite popular and don’t last very long.

Renting Points
The Disney Vacation Club (DVC) is Disney’s timeshare program. If you want to read more about DVC membership, you can do so on the DVC website. There is a lot of information there, but we’re going to focus more on how it relates to this great Saratoga Springs/Old Key West deal.
DVC members can “rent” their points out – this is basically a way for DVC members to make the reservations so that non-DVC members can use the reservations. Every reservation has a point assignment to it – the number of points can vary based on the date, the resort, standard versus preferred, etc. You don’t need to worry about coming up with the points yourself – there are calculators online (such as this one) that tell you how many points are assigned to various stays. If you’re not a DVC member, then you don’t need to worry about using the points, either – the reservation is made for you by the DVC member and will be made in the DVC member’s name. (Your name will be added to the reservation, though, and you can still take advantage of things like My Disney Experience.)
You can rent points from individual DVC members, or you can go through a third-party website.
Some of the benefits of renting through a third-party website include peace of mind and convenience, as they will take care of a lot of the details for you (like providing you and the DVC member with contracts so everything goes smoothly).
A negative is that it’s usually a little more expensive to go through one of those third-party sites, since the third-party site takes a portion of the money.
However, for this Saratoga Springs/Old Key West deal, you can enjoy the benefits of a third-party site at an especially reduced rate!
Because it’s through the Disney Vacation Club, by renting points you’re staying in a villa instead of a typical resort hotel room.
Villa options include a deluxe studio villa, 1 bedroom villa, 2 bedroom villa, and 3 bedroom grand villa. Saratoga Springs also has 3-bedroom Treehouse Villas that are elevated 10 feet off the ground and located in a complex just adjacent to the main part of Saratoga Springs. Villas are generally located in or near the same space as regular hotel rooms. However, Old Key West and Saratoga Springs are a bit different in that they only have villas.
How Do I Make The Reservation?
Let’s say you’re ready to take advantage of these great rates and want to stay at Saratoga Springs or Old Key West next month!
First, make sure you act right away. In our experience, special deals like this – with discounted points for Saratoga Springs & Old Key West – sell out quickly.
You’ll want to make sure that your dates match the selected dates for each resort. You’ll also want to make sure that your total number of points is at least 44, since that is the minimum required for this deal.
You can use this online calculator to see how many points your dates require. Just click on your dates and then click on the words “Show Point Amount”. Since this is a special deal, you can multiply the number of points by $9 to see how much it would cost.
A simpler way to find out the cost is just to start filling out the request form and keep changing the dates/hotel selection if you aren’t sure of your dates.
Either way, you’re going to need to fill out that request form. You can provide a second choice of date/hotel in case your first choice is no longer available. You’ll also need to give name, addresses, etc of everyone that will be staying in the villa. The steps on the form are pretty straightforward.
Along with your request, you will need to give a $112.00 deposit (you can use Visa, MasterCard or PayPal).
If your request can be fulfilled – if there is still availability for the dates requested – then you’ll need to pay in full within 24 hours of being notified that your request was fulfilled. If you don’t, you lose your deposit.
If your request cannot be fulfilled – if there is no longer availability for any of your requests – then they will refund your deposit. This has happened to us before, and they were very prompt in letting us know.
About Saratoga Springs & Old Key West Resorts
Saratoga Spring Resort & Spa and Old Key West Resort are two of Disney’s deluxe resorts. This means they are in the top tier of Disney’s hotels (the other two categories are “moderate” and “value”).
The two resorts are considered Disney Springs resorts and have boat transportation to Disney Springs. (Disney Springs, formerly known as Downtown Disney, is a large complex with a number of restaurant, shopping and entertainment options.) You can also walk from Saratoga Springs to Disney Springs. (You can technically walk from Old Key West to Disney Springs, but it is not as simple or convenient.)
Unlike some of the other deluxe resorts, there is only bus transportation to the theme parks – you cannot take a monorail or boat to any of the theme parks.
One perk of Saratoga Springs is that the resort complex does include a spa and golf course, though use of those facilities is not included in the price of the hotel room.
If you’re interested in a deluxe studio villa (the least expensive villa option offered at these two resorts), keep in mind that the deluxe studio in Old Key West has 2 queen beds, while the deluxe studio in Saratoga Springs has 1 queen bed and 1 double sleeper sofa. Depending on the size and sleeping preferences of your party, this can give the deluxe studio at Old Key West quite the edge!
