How to Save Money
Our family loves using David’s Vacation Club Rentals for staying at Saratoga Springs, Old Key West, and a number of other Disney World hotels, too. We aren’t Disney Vacation Club members, but that’s okay. With David’s, we can do something called rent points from people who are DVC members. (We go over the process of how non-members can book a DVC hotel with points here.)
Another way to use David’s Vacation Club Rentals to save money on your hotel stay is by booking something called Confirmed Reservations. This is when someone has already booked a stay but aren’t able to make it, so someone else can rent it. In this case, the dates, resort and room type are set. But this is where, in our experience, you can find some particularly amazing deals.

Right now, on Disney World’s website, booking a Deluxe Studio – Preferred room at Saratoga Springs for the same date would cost you a total of $643.94 (including tax). And that’s with a current holiday promotion that Disney World is running! That means you’d save around $292 going with this confirmed reservation instead.
And I really do love that it’s a preferred studio. You see, Saratoga Springs is a sprawling resort. A preferred room means you’ll be closer to things like the boat transportation to Disney Springs and the onsite restaurants. This will save you a lot of time on your vacation!

What I love about this deal is that, in addition to the price, it’s the night before Thanksgiving. This is impressive because there isn’t a lot of availability for this night.
Right now, even with the holiday promotion on Disney World’s website that covers that date, the only room available at Old Key West is the 2 Bedroom Villa at $1,260.00 (total price, including tax). So obviously, this studio villa is a lot cheaper!
And if you just want to stay at a Disney deluxe resort, your cheapest option on Disney World’s website (again, on sale with the holiday promotion) for that date and 4 adults is $652.06 (total price, including tax) for a resort view (i.e. not savanna view) room at Animal Kingdom Lodge. This is still nearly twice as much as the Old Key West studio at $330.00.

Why Saratoga Springs and Old Key West?
Now, you can book a lot of Disney hotels through David’s – most of the deluxe resorts at Disney World, as well as a few other hotels in other places (such as Disney’s Hilton Head Island Resort or the Disneyland Hotel).
But the cheapest prices are generally for Saratoga Springs and Old Key West Resort. This has a lot to do with the fact that they are two of the deluxe resorts with the most rooms, and all of the rooms are available for DVC members to book. So there’s just usually more availability than, say, Disney’s Beach Club. This keeps the costs down in general (relatively speaking) for Saratoga Springs and Old Key West.
About Saratoga Springs & Old Key West Resorts
Saratoga Spring Resort & Spa and Old Key West Resort are two of Disney’s deluxe resorts. This means they are in the top tier of Disney’s hotels (the other two categories are “moderate” and “value”).
The two resorts are considered Disney Springs resorts and have boat transportation to Disney Springs. (Disney Springs, formerly known as Downtown Disney, is a large complex with a number of restaurant, shopping and entertainment options.) You can also walk from Saratoga Springs to Disney Springs. (You can technically walk from Old Key West to Disney Springs, but it is not as simple or convenient.)
Unlike some of the other deluxe resorts, there is only bus transportation to the theme parks – you cannot take a monorail or boat to any of the theme parks.
If you’re interested in a deluxe studio villa (the least expensive villa option offered at these two resorts), keep in mind that the deluxe studio in Old Key West has 2 queen beds, while the deluxe studio in Saratoga Springs has 1 queen bed and 1 double pull-down bed. Depending on the size and sleeping preferences of your party, this can give the deluxe studio at Old Key West quite the edge!
