A kid-friendly holiday celebration is coming back to San Diego!  It takes place at the new Sesame Street-themed amusement park Sesame Place over in Chula Vista, California.  This holiday event is called A Very Furry Christmas!

A Very Furry Christmas starts November 9, 2024.  It runs through January 5, 2024.

Admission to the event is included in general admission.  You can purchase a general admission ticket at a discounted price here.

It is a very kid-friendly and small children-friendly event.  You’ll see that when I tell you more about the activities and features of this event.

Grand Illumination

Sesame Place has a gorgeous 24-foot-tall Christmas Tree over at Big Bird’s Wave Pool.  Every night, it lights up with thousands of holiday lights.  Jingle Bell Elf and Sesame Street characters (dressed in holiday outfits, of course) will be at the Christmas tree lighting. This is something children and adults can enjoy together.

Sesame Street Christmas Cavalcade

Watch your favorite characters on floats that are beautifully decorated for the holiday season.  These characters include Elmo, Abby Cadabby, Cookie Monster, Big Bird, Zoe, Bert, Ernie, Telly, and (my favorite character) Oscar the Grouch.  You’ll hear great classic holiday songs.  There’s great performances and dancing.  All this Christmas cheer might even get Oscar in the Christmas spirit!

Christmas Lights

Thousands of lights sparkle all around the park during the event.  It really transforms the park into a holiday wonderland!

Elmo’s Christmas Wish

Elmo’s Christmas Wish is a Christmas show at the Sesame Street Theater.  It involves popular Sesame Street characters like Elmo, Rosita, Cookie Monster, Zoe, and Grover talking about what they want for Christmas.  Singing and dancing will take place, too, of course.  And at the end, Elmo will come up with the best wish of all.  What is that wish?  You’ll have to see the show yourself to learn!

Photos with Santa

Looking for that perfect picture of your child with Santa Claus this year?  Then head over to Big Bird’s Wave Pool, where naturally Santa is hanging out so you can get that picture!

Christmas Tree Maze

See beautiful, colorful trees in Sesame Place’s Christmas tree maze.  You can find it behind Oscar’s Grouchy Grub.

Golden Gift Hunt

One Golden Gift will be hidden somewhere in Sesame Place each day of the event through December 25th.  If you find it, turn it in at Guest Services to win an exclusive prize!

Cookie Monster Claus

Other Christmas festivals around Southern California may have Santa Claus.  But do they have Cookie Claus?  You can get a very unique photo of your kid with Santa when it’s Cookie Monster dressed as Santa!

Holiday Photos with Sesame Street Friends

Cookie Monster isn’t the only popular Sesame Street character you can get pictures with at this event.  You can get photos with Elmo and other characters wearing festive attire.

Christmas Cookies with Cookie Monster

Join Cookie Monster to enjoy something the Cookie Monster knows very well: Christmas cookies!  This experience is a great meet-and-greet opportunity with Cookie Monster.  Plus, you get milk in a special refillable mug!

Spot-The-Gift Scavenger Hunt

Purchase a Spot-The-Gift Scavenger Hunt map at Scavenger Hunt HQ (which you’ll find at the 123 Trade With Me Cart).  Then peruse the park for all the gifts.  Once you finish, you can return the map to Scavenger Hunt HQ.  Then, you’ll get a Christmas prize!

Sesame Street-Themed Rides

Some of the Sesame Street-themed rides you enjoyed back in the summer will be open during the holiday celebration!

For example, you can still ride the family-friendly roller coaster Super Grover’s Box Car Derby or the classic carousel ride, Sunny Day Carousel.

Christmas Storytime

Head to Big Bird’s Nest to hear a seasonal holiday story read aloud by a Sesame Street character.  There’s also a photo opportunity at the end of the story!
