It’s February, and that means that spring training is quickly approaching.  The Tampa Bay Rays, unfortunately, cannot use the Charlotte Sports Park complex this year for spring training due to the damage caused by Hurricane Ian.

But luckily, Disney has stepped in and offered their ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex to the Rays to use for the first half of their spring training.  So not only will their spring workouts take place at the Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando, Florida.  But they’ll also be playing a home game against the New York Yankees at The Stadium at the ESPN Wide World of Sports at Disney!

This is a wonderful opportunity not only for Rays fans to see their favorite team at Disney World.  But it’s also a great chance for Yankees fans, too, to see their team.  The ESPN Wide of World Sports Complex is really great, too.

I loved visiting there and I know you will, too.  Especially because of the upcoming game!

The game takes place on Tuesday, February 28, 2023, at 1:05 PM.  You can click here to purchase a ticket to the game.

Visiting Disney World

If you are coming from Tampa, St. Petersburg, Clearwater, etc. to see your Rays, then you can make the trip in a day without getting a hotel room.  Though I am sure you’d enjoy an overnight trip at Disney World, too.

But if you are coming from farther, like say New York City, then you’ll need a hotel.  And this game is a great reason to make a Walt Disney World Resort trip.  Especially in a month like February when it’s nice to get away from a New York winter and to sunny Florida instead.

If you decide to stay onsite, then might I suggest All-Star Sports?  It seems like a fitting hotel to stay in when you are planning a sports trip.  They even have a baseball section and a baseball-themed pool.

All Star Sports Resort at Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida has different sections including this one for baseball

They also have fun sports theming that is great for all sports fans throughout their hotel, including at their food court, End Zone Food Court.  They’ve even got baseball-themed menu items like their Bases Loaded Burger.

You can read a review of End Zone Food Court here.  All Star Sports also recently renovated their rooms.  You can click here to book the hotel at a good rate.  Speaking of pricing, too, it’s also one of the cheapest hotels on the Walt Disney World Resort complex.

They also offer bus transportation to the Wide World of Sports.  This is great if you fly to Disney World and don’t want to rent a car.  Other Disney hotels that offer bus transportation include the following hotels, and if you click on their links you can get a discounted rate:

If you do have your car there, though, parking at ESPN Wide World of Sports is free.  So if you say stay at a deluxe Disney hotel, you could drive to the Wide World of Sports.  And you can stay at a deluxe Disney hotel at an extreme discount by taking these steps.

And if you are staying at Disney World, I’m sure you’ll want to do more than just go the game.  I’m sure you’d love to go Disney’s theme parks, like Magic Kingdom, Epcot, Hollywood Studios, Animal Kingdom, Blizzard Beach, and Typhoon Lagoon.  You can find some great coupons for Disney World tickets here.

Oh, and if you are flying, here are some ways to save on a flight to Disney World.
