Recently, my family had the pleasure of visiting St. Augustine, Florida. We really wanted to stay close to the Historic District, so we picked The Ponce St. Augustine Hotel. We were very pleased with our choice. You can find out why in our below review, where we outline eight reasons why we think you should choose this hotel
Amazing Location
As I mentioned before, the primary reason we chose this hotel was because of the location. It is right next door to the St. Augustine Welcome Center, which was super convenient for us. We did the Ghosts & Graveyards tour (which I highly recommend – read our full review here) and that’s where the bus picks you up. The Ponce St. Augustine Hotel is also right next to one of the stops of the Old Town Trolley Tour. So if you get a ticket for the Old Town Trolley Tour, you can just get picked up there and then driven to all the top attractions. You can get a good deal on an Old Town Trolley Tour with this Combination Package. And of course, if you don’t want to use the Old Town Trolley, you can walk, too. Because the area’s top attractions are that close.
Price
You might think a hotel with this great of a location might be expensive, but it actually really isn’t. You can find a great price if you click here. In addition to a low price, the hotel also offers a continental breakfast and free parking.
Beautiful Exterior
You can tell what a beautiful hotel it is the moment you drive up to the hotel. The beautiful architecture and palm trees are really beautiful. It looks exactly like the kind of hotel you would want to stay in when you visit St. Augustine.
Beautiful Lobby
But this beauty doesn’t just stop there. The interior of the hotel and lobby are also really beautiful.
Great Customer Service
The hotel has two stories and there are no stairs, which is a negative for my family. But when we explained our situation they were incredibly accommodating. We were able to switch into a room on the first floor. I really appreciated that, since not every hotel is that nice when you bring up a complaint.
Great Rooms
As I said before, the hotel was very accommodating and switched our room. The rooms are beautifully decorated with great colors. Beds are comfortable, too. If I had one complaint it’s that the room is a bit on the smaller size, but not to the point it hurt my enjoyment of the trip. And I fully expect rooms to be smaller when they are in such a good location. So it wasn’t a deal-breaker for me.
Dining Options
The Ponce St. Augustine Hotel conveniently has an onsite restaurant, De Leon Cocina. De Leon Cocina serves delicious Colombian food. It also has a bar that serves great mixed drinks, wine, and beer. The Latin music playing in the restaurant also gives the restaurant a great atmosphere, too.
If Latin food isn’t your cup of tea, there are also nearby fast-food restaurants. The Ponce St. Augustine Hotel is also right next door to a Zaxby’s, which was convenient. And across the street is a McDonald’s.
Pool & Hot Tub
This hotel has a great outdoor pool and hot tub. The pool is definitely something you’re going to want to check out if you visit during the hot summer days! There are also a lot of relaxing chairs around the pool.
And finally, if you are visiting St. Augustine during the winter, I highly recommend the St. Augustine Night of Lights Trolley Tour. My family really loved going there last year – you can see highlights from it here:
