Poiana Brasov is one of the most popular ski resorts in Romania. The ski area was modernized and expanded in 2010 and the slope length was increased to 23.9 meters. The European Youth Olympics was held here in 2013 with figure skating, alpine skiing and short track. It is about 1,020 meters (3,379 feet) above sea level. Poiana Brasov is located near the city of Brasov and Bran Castle, former royal residence and alleged home of Count Dracula.
