My family loves attending the Food and Wine Festival at Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando, Florida every year.  We just love trying the new foods and wines available here.  And having our favorites each year.  It is a wonderful way to try new cuisines from around the world.

One thing we love to do when we get to the festival is to pick up the booklet for the festival.   You can find them after you enter the park, whether you enter at the front of the park or the World Showcase entrance.  The booklets tell you about all the different global marketplaces set up throughout the festival.  The marketplaces are basically pop up booths located through Epcot that sell foods and drinks.

There were a lot we wanted to try (and did try).  One that jumped out to us that I specifically wanted to focus on today is the France marketplace.  We like French cuisine and wines in general.  We’ve liked offerings from the France marketplace in previous Food & Wine Festivals.  And we liked the menu for this year, which I am about to tell you about.

Drinks

One of the reasons you’ll often find a very long line at the France marketplace is the great drinks you can get here.

The drink menu is impressive:

  • Strawberry Rose Mimosa with Pol Remy Sparkling Wine, Orange Juice & Monin Strawberry Rose
  • Parisian Cosmo Slush with Vodka, Grey Goose Le Citron, Vodka, Grand Marnier & Cranberry Juice
  • Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon Blend, Bordeaux, Château de Riffaud
  • Chardonnay, Maison Nicolas

So the selection is great, but our personal recommendation for drinks is the Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon Blend.

We expected the Cabernet Sauvignon to dominate since it is the stronger taste of the two.  But it did not.  It was a great blend that was essentially a new drink rather than one overpowering the other.  If this was available at a restaurant closer to us, we would order it.  In other words, we found a new drink!

Food

The France global marketplace has an equally impressive food menu:

  • Boeuf Bourguignon, Pommes Dauphine, which is Braised Short Ribs in Cabernet with Puffed Potatoes
  • Croissant aux Escargots, which is an Escargot Croissant with Garlic and Parsley
  • Beignet aux Trois Fromages, which is a Warm Beignet filled with a 3-Cheese Blend
  • Crème Brûlée Vanille à la Confiture de Fraises, which is Vanilla Crème Brûlée with House-Made Strawberry Jam

The dish our family liked most was the Boeuf Bourguignon, Pommes Dauphine.

This was fantastic.  Both the ribs and potatoes were delicious.  The ribs were so tender you could pull them apart with a fork.  The flavors went together perfectly, too.

My family also really liked the Brioche aux Escargots.  The snail was really delicious and it was wonderfully blended with the other foods.  The bread was really good, too.  All the tastes blended so well that I was sad when I was done eating it.

Both of these dishes work well as a lunch (and are cheaper than most lunches you can get at Disney World!).

Location

The France global marketplace is located in the back of the World Showcase.  It is right next to the World Showcase entrance to the park.  This makes this marketplace really convenient for anyone coming to Epcot through that entrance.  You can get to that entrance by taking a Disney Skyliner from Hollywood Studios to Epcot.

You can also get there by taking a Disney Skyliner from these hotels (and if you click on these links, you can get a great deal for these hotels):

Another way to get there is by walking from these hotels (and you can find out how to save money staying at these hotels by clicking on these links):

Food & Wine Festival Tickets

Unlike Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party, the Food & Wine Festival at Disney World is not a separate ticket event.  That means that it is included in the price of admission.

You can find out how to get discounted tickets to Walt Disney World here.
