I’m really enjoying watching the Olympics. I love seeing the skiing events and rooting for my favorites. And it makes me want to get back on skis and glide through the snow. Jeremy Ranch Golf & Country Club is one part golf, one part country club and one part Nordic skiing center. It is located in Park City, Utah, which was home to the skiing in the 2002 Winter Olympics. It is also one of the most beautiful places on the planet. Every year, when winter arrives, Jeremy Ranch opens up more than six miles (10 kilometers) of Nordic skiing area.
Nordic skiing is the original version of skiing. It includes any form of skiing where the toe is attached to the ski but the heel isn’t. With downhill, aka Alpine, skiing, the entire boot is attached to the ski. In Nordic skiing, the heel of the boot is free which means the skier can push his/her heels freely at any given time.
If you’re watching the Olympics like I am, the cross country skiing is Nordic skiing. Cross country skiing is much easier to learn than Alpine skiing, if you have the correct gear.
