Cedar Point theme park in Sandusky, Ohio is always a fun place to visit. With seventeen roller coasters and countless other fun attractions, how could you not have fun at Cedar Point? Just look at the park!
So if you’ve already been to Cedar Point this summer, I am sure you had fun. But guess what? One of America’s oldest theme parks is about to get more fun. Because starting July 19th, you can enjoy Boardwalk Nights!
Boardwalk Nights is a seasonal event at Cedar Point that runs (as the name would imply) at night. It runs from July 19th, 2024, through August 18, 2024 on all nights except for Tuesday.
The event takes place, as once again the name would suggest, at the Boardwalk section of Cedar Point. Last year, the Boardwalk section was added as a throwback to Cedar Point of yesteryear. There are nods to Cedar Point’s history throughout the section, like the Grand Pavilion which commemorates Cedar Point’s original Grand Pavilion entertainment space that first debuted in 1888. The Boardwalk section is just steps away from Lake Erie. It is a great throwback to the traditional American beach boardwalks that have entertained travelers for so many years.
This event has a lot of fun entertainment you might expect at a beach boardwalk at night. I want to tell you about some of the fun things you’ll find at this event. Then I’ll tell you how to save money on tickets!
Street Performers & Entertainment
One thing that comes to mind when I think of boardwalks at night is the street performers. And you will see this at Boardwalk Nights.
There will be daredevils there performing crazy tricks. This includes fire manipulating, hand-to-hand human balancing, synchronized kite flying, and more. There’s even a forty-foot-tall Wheel of Destiny!
You can also meet fun characters like Cotton Candy, Ms. Popcorn, and the diva Dreamgirls of Cedar Point. This makes for great photo opportunities!
The Boardwalk Brass Brigade will also be playing fun music. And speaking of music, there will be a Steamboat Swing Dance Party. You’ll hear modern twists on classic songs like “Strike Up The Band”.
Cedar Point Beach Party
And speaking of dance parties, there’s also a mile-long dance floor right at Cedar Point Beach! DJ Lemmy will be there spinning tunes all night.
In addition to he dance party, there are numerous fire pits so you can sit around and relax. There’s also glow-in-the-dark beach volleyball.
Food & Drinks
I also think of classic boardwalk food when I think of boardwalks. And there are some great Boardwalk Bites available during this event like:
- Cotton Candy
- Loaded footlong with pulled pork
- Flavored popcorn
- Mac ‘n Cheese
There are also signature cocktails available, such as “That’s the Bomb!” spiked ICEE. You can also get a collector lemonade and limeade shaker. They are available in fun flavors like strawberry basil, watermelon jalapeño, and piña colada.
Games
I also think of fun games when I think of the Boardwalk. And there will be special games set up for the event, such as Mini Wheel and Ring Around the Seagall. A 3 Point Challenge court will also be set up where six players can take to the court in a fast-paced, knockout-style competition.
Fireworks
And finally, what other way to end a fun day out with your family and friends in the summer than with a great fireworks show? The grand finale of Boardwalk Nights features pyrotechnics illuminating the Dodgem rooftops and the Grand Pavilion along with synchronized close-proximity fireworks.
