This summer, why not plan a visit to the premier destination in Ontario for family fun: Canada’s Wonderland?  Canada’s Wonderland theme park in Vaughan (just north of Toronto) has been entertaining guests since 1981.  It features over 200 attractions.  We want to tell you about some of these attractions – and tell you how you can save money on your ticket with a coupon.

Canada’s Wonderland Sections

Before we start talking about attractions, I want to mention the different sections.  There are lots of sections of the park, which originally had just 5 sections.  I think the theming to the different sections is really neat:

  • International Street
    • The entrance of the theme park
    • The streets are lined with shops and restaurants featuring non-North American cuisine
    • At the end of the street is the park’s iconic Wonder Mountain
  • Frontier Canada
    • A Klondike Gold Rush era boom town-themed section
    • Was inspired by Dawson City, Yukon, and its surrounding area.
  • Grande World Exposition of 1890
    • Themed to a late 19th-century world’s fair with expositions from different countries.
    • Has a particular focus on African and Asian themes
  • Alpenfest
    • An Alpen-themed section with rides and midway games
  • Medieval Faire
    • Has a medieval European theme
  • Planet Snoopy
    • Children’s area themed to the popular PEANUTS comic strips
  • Splash Works
    • A 20-acre waterpark
  • KidZville
  • Action Zone

Thrill Rides

Canada’s Wonderland doesn’t have just a couple of roller coasters.  It is home to 18 roller coasters!  Notable among these roller coasters is Yukon Striker, a world-breaking dive coaster.

This also includes AlpenFury, which debuted this year.  AlpenFury also broke records for having the most inversions on a launch roller coaster (nine).

Other notable roller coasters include Leviathan (one of the fastest and tallest roller coasters in the world) and Wonder Mountain’s Guardian (a 4D interactive dark ride roller coaster inside Wonder Mountain that has one of the largest drop tracks in the world).

Kids Rides & Family Rides

But it’s not just thrill rides!  There are plenty of children’s rides for younger guests in KidZville and Planet SNOOPY.

There are also plenty of non-roller coaster rides that adults and children can enjoy together.  My favorite is Boo Blasters on Boo Hill.  It’s a dark rider where your vehicle has mounted laser guns you can use to fire at lighted targets during the ride.  As an adult, I have fun with this ride and kids can enjoy it, too.

Waterpark Attractions

I like how Canada’s Wonderland has an onsite waterpark.  You can find 16 different water slides there.

The waterpark also has a wave pool called Whitewater Bay, which is Canada’s largest outdoor wave pool.
