My family loves visiting Kings Dominion theme park in Doswell, Virginia. It is a huge theme park with fun theming and even its own waterpark inside the theme park. It’s a walkthrough of the park. We walked through the different sections. And those different sections are one thing I really like about Kings Dominion. I like its theming and what each section has to offer. So I want to tell you a bit about each section. And then I will go into a bit more detail about the coupon I mentioned earlier.
International Street
International Street is the section at the front of the park. The defining feature of this section is the huge ⅓ scale replica of the Eiffel Tower. This is a section I really like, because I really love the international flavor. I also like the architecture, which represents multiple countries (France of course, but also Germany, Italy, Switzerland & Spain).
You can find a lot of shops and restaurants here reflecting the theme, like Grain and Grill International Kitchen and Biergarten. You can also find the roller coaster Dominator and the Grande Bandstand, a performance stage
Old Virginia
Along with International Street, Old Virginia is one of the two remaining sections of the original park. It has a Blue Ridge Mountains theme. Rides that reflect this theming include Shenandoah Lumber Company classic log flume ride, White Water Canyon rafting ride, and the Blue Ridge Tollway car attraction.
Candy Apple Grove
Candy Apple Grove is an orchard-themed section. You can see the theming in rides like Apple Zapple and Bad Apple.
Jungle X-Pedition
Jungle X-Pedition is a neat section of the park. It has a neat theme of being an archeological base camp in a mysterious jungle. It has undergone many names over the years. Most recently, it was Safari Village until 2022 when it was rebranded as Jungle X-Pedition. You can see the immersive theming in the area, like the restaurants: Excavator’s Taters, Jungle Market Eatery, and Outpsot Cafe.
You can find a lot of roller coasters in this section, like Tumbili, Pantherian, Reptilian, and the new Rapterra.
Planet Snoopy
Planet Snoopy is the PEANUTS-themed section with lots of children-centric rides (though it also has my favorite ride at the park, Boo Blasters on Boo Hill). Other rides here include Charlie Brown’s Wind Up, Linus Launcher, Snoopy’s Rocket Express, Woodstock Whirlybirds, the classic Snoopy vs. Red Baron (my sister’s favorite ride when she was a little girl), etc.
Soak City
Soak City is the waterpark section of the park. This is a great place to visit when it gets really hot. You might want to bring a bathing suit because I went once when it was a hundred degrees and I had to watch people in the pool longingly because I was quite hot. Waterpark attractions here include Tidal Wave Bay, Aqua Blast, Baja Bends, Sand Dune Lagoon, Lazy Rider, and Lil’ Barefoot Beach.
