Valleyfair theme park has been bringing fun times to Twin Cities families since it first opened in 1976. With over 75 rides and attractions, there is something to do for kids and adults of all ages.
We want to tell you about some of these amazing attractions in this popular Shakopee, Minnesota theme park. And then we’ll tell you how you can save money on admission here with great coupons!
Valleyfair Attractions
Wild Thing
Wild Thing is perhaps the most famous roller coaster at Valleyfair. It starts with the roller coaster taking you 207 feet up the first hill. You’ll get great views of the park from here. But don’t get too comfortable, because next is a gravity-defying drop where you’ll reach speeds of up to 74 miles per hour!
Delirious
Delirious is a 70-foot roller coaster with 10 upside down loops. It debuted in 2018 so it is one of the theme park’s newer rides.
High Roller
High Roller is a classic wooden rollercoaster that was built the year Valleyfair opened in 1976. Since it opened, it has long been considered a staple roller coaster of Valleyfair. And with a height of 70 feet and speeds of up to 47 miles per hour, it’s no wonder it’s still such a popular roller coaster.
Renegade
Renegade is a world-class wooden roller coaster that reaches speeds of 52 to 55 miles per hour and heights of 104 feet.
Corkscrew
Corkscrew is a 45-mile-per-hour, looping roller coaster where you’ll turn upside down three times.
Steel Venom
Steel Venom is a roller coaster that uses linear induction motors to launch guests both forward and backward. It reaches sixty miles per hour and a height of 185 feet.
Excalibur
Excalibur is a classic, high-speed roller coaster that is part wood and part modern steel.
Minnesota River Valley Railroad
The Minnesota River Valley Railroad is a fun way to take a scenic ride through Valleyfair. There’s also some interesting history behind this nostalgic attraction. The trains used in this attraction are actually scale replicas of the famous 1800s locomotive known as The General, which is famous for being the subject of the Great Locomotive Chase of the American Civil War.
Antique Autos
Take a leisurely ride on an old-timey motor car. The quarter-mile scenic track simulates a drive through Route 76 and northern Minnesota. You’ll get to see all your favorite Minnesota landmarks and wildlife along the way.
Carousel
This classic carousel ride has a neat history. It was originally built in 1925 for the Excelsior Amusement Park located on Lake Minnetonka, but it has now made its way to Valleyfair.
Power Tower
You’ll experience weightlessness and elevation change at this attraction. It is a tower ride with a chair lift-type seat. Guests are propelled up or shot down at very high speeds.
Ferris Wheel
Get a bird’s eye view of the theme park on this classic attraction. It’s really neat at night when the Ferris Wheel lights up.
Northern Lights
Northern Lights is a thrilling and unique family thrill ride. A 36-passenger gondola spins as it travels along a track at speeds of up to 43 miles per hour. When you get to the top, you’ll get great Route 76 views.
The Wave
The Wave is a classic water flume ride that culminates in a 50-degree drop at 40 miles per hour. It’s a great way to cool off on a hot summer day!
Thunder Canyon
Another way to cool off is on this whitewater rafting attraction. But be warned: you might get really wet.
Cosmic Coaster
Cosmic Coaster is a miniature steel, children’s roller coaster.
Scrambler
Scrambler is a classic fair ride. It first came to Valleyfair during the opening year of 1976 so it is a classic Valleyfair ride, too.
Tilter
Tilter is another classic amusement park ride that has been popular for generations.
Woodstock Whirlybirds
Woodstock Whirlybirds is a classic teacup-style family attraction.
Monster
Despite the name, Monster is actually a very family-friendly ride. It gets its name from the six tentacles of the ride. 24 twirling cars extend from these tentacles and they rotate counter-clockwise. This ride is especially fun to do at night because of its dark black body and bright orange lights.
Lucy’s Tugboat
Lucy’s Tugboat is a spinning tugboat ride that goes back and forth over an upward-curved track.
Charlie Brown’s Wind-Up
A kid-sized swing ride that is not like your average swing at a school playground. No, this swing keeps going higher and higher into the air.
North Star
Want an even more thrilling swing ride? Try North Star, where your free-hanging seat is suspended from an elevated and rotating gondola that ascends and descends from a 230-foot-tall, 20-story-tall tower.
Flying Ace Balloon Race
Flying Ace Balloon Race is a children’s hot air balloon ride which lifts riders up in the air and spins them around.
Xtreme Swing
Xtreme Swing has the distinction of being the Upper Midwest’s largest swing set! Up to twenty people at a time can get on this swing, which is not your typical swing. It does, after all, reach heights of 125 feet and speeds of 60 miles per hour!
Sally’s Swing Set
Sally’s Swing Set is a miniature version of Xtreme Swing for kids.
Linus’ Beetle Bugs
This slow-moving themed kids’ circular ride was based on the Beetle Bugs featured in the 1977 comic.
Mad Mouse
This family-style rollercoaster is a classic amusement park ride.
Snoopy vs. Red Baron
This is a classic children’s ride where kids board miniature biplanes that rotate around in the air in a circle.
Peanuts 500
Kids get to enjoy the sensation of driving their own car on a NASCAR inspired mini-track.
Kite Eating Tree
A classic ride that hoists guests up in the air before letting them down in a gentle though bouncy fashion.
Linus Launcher
Lay down on Linus’ blanket and then let Snoopy launch you up 10 feet in the air. You’ll get the sensation of flying as the ride takes you around in a circular motion.
Flying Eagles
In this attraction, guests ride in suspended cars that rotate in a circle. As the speed of the ride increases, guests use a fin at the front of the car to steer the car lower or higher.
Peanuts Road Rally
Peanuts Road Rally is a miniature truck ride where you board mini-18-wheeler cabs that follow an electric track. Kids can sit behind the wheel, but adults must sit in the backseat.
Snoopy’s Rocket Express
Board a rocket that will go through the theme park on an elevated track.
Wheel of Fortune
Wheel of Fortune is a classic roulette-style ride.
RipCord
RipCord is like a combination of bungee jumping, skydiving and hang gliding. You’re hoisted 180 feet into the air. You’ll then pull your ripcord, initiating a tethered freefall descent and flight. You’ll reach speeds of up to 60-80 miles per hour.
Snoopy’s Deep Sea Divers
A children’s ride where you board a submarine that will go up rather than down in the ocean. In fact, it rotates both in a clockwise and counterclockwise direction and eventually reaches a height of over 20 feet.
SuperCat
SuperCat is a circular ride where you quickly go around an undulating course while beat-thumping music plays.
Peanuts Playhouse
Peanuts Playhouse is a two-story playhouse where kids can enjoy running around in an air-conditioned place. There are a lot of fun things children can do here. For example, there’s a great interactive foam ball play area complete with foam targets, cannons, and slides.
Bumper Cars
This family-friendly attraction has been a carnival and amusement park staple for years.
Soak City Waterpark Attractions
When you visit Valleyfair, you don’t just get an amusement park. You also get a waterpark!
Soak City Waterpark is located at Valleyfair and it is included in the cost of admission. They’ve got a lot of great waterpark attractions, too.
Breakers Bay Wave Pool
You might that in a landlocked state like Minnesota, you won’t be able to see ocean waves. Well, think again! This 350,000-gallon wave pool produces ocean-like waves that will make you feel like you’re in the ocean. These waves range all the way to six feet!
Breakers Pipeline
This attraction begins on the top of a 65-foot-tall deck. Then, the floor will drop out from under you and you’ll take a near-vertical drop.
Hurricane Falls
Hurricane Falls is a 70-foot-tall four-person raft ride with lots of turns and sudden drops.
Panic Falls Body Slides
This attraction consists of three separate body slides that descend from a 50-foot-tall tower. You’ll experience quick turns and sudden drops before the slide takes you to a 3-foot-deep catch pool.
Panic Falls Speed Slides
This is a Soak City favorite attraction. It consists of two fast, straight, freefall slides from 50 feet high that end in a water-filled run-out.
Breakers Plunge
Take a near-vertical, 90-foot freefall drop into a water-filled run-out.
Raging Rapids
Raging Rapids is an active, fast-flowing, whitewater-simulated river tube ride.
Ripple Rapids
Ripple Rapids is a relaxing lazy river ride where you float around Soak City Waterpark.
Barefoot Beach
Barefoot Beach is a family-friendly, zero-depth water playground with interactive water-play elements like a tipping bucket, geyser, and slides.
Splash Station
An interactive pool for kids with slides, water cannons, and other water play elements.
