When the cherry blossoms bloom in South Korea around April, it really is a beautiful sight. And if you want to experience it in all of its beauty, consider going to the Jinhae Cherry Blossom Festival.
The Jinhae Cherry Blossom Festival is also known Gunhangjae and the Naval Port Festival. It is one of the most famous festivals in South Korea. Over a million Koreans and international travelers crowd into Jinhae to see the beautiful flowers. Pale pink flowers will blossom from an estimated 340,000 cherry trees.
Here’s a tip, too. If you want to get a great view of the flowers, then there are two great locations to go. One is Yeojwacheon stream. The other is Gyeonghwa train station.
But it is not just about flowers. There are also military parades that commemorate the victory of Admiral Yi Sun Shin over a Japanese invasion attempt. The festival also has street performers, carnival stalls, and great street lighting.
The festival takes place over ten days. If you are in South Korea this April, it is definitely a festival you’ll want to attend.
Jinhae Cherry Blossom Festival Tour

To get there, you’ll have to leave very early in the morning. But you’ll get to Jinhae by noon. Then your tour can begin.
It starts with a tour to Yeojwacheon Stream. This, as you might remember from my tips, is one of the two best places to view the cherry blossoms.
Another bonus of getting to visit Yeojwacheon Stream is that that is the location of a famous bridge known as the “Romance Bridge”. It got that name because it was the metting place of the two main characters from the popular 2002 TV series “Romance”.
After that, you’ll go to Gyeonghwa Station. If you’ve been paying attention in this blog entry (don’t worry if you weren’t; I won’t be quizzing you later!) then you’ll remember that is the other great location to see the cherry blossom. You’ll get to see rows of cherry trees along the 800-meter-long railway.
