If you have ever longed to have a truly unique, once-in-a-lifetime kind of hotel experience, then the Icehotel in Jukkasjärvi, Sweden is the hotel for you.

It is the world’s first ice hotel, and every year it is rebuilt with snow & ice, constructed from snow & ice block from the nearby Torne River.  There are bedrooms with chairs & beds made of ice, a bar with glasses made of ice and even a chapel that is a popular wedding destination.  No two rooms are the same; they are all unique artwork.  It only exists between December and April, because afterwards everything melts away and returns to the Torne River, and then new suites are built out of ideas artists can submit.  You can see documentaries on this hotel from time to time on Discovery Channel or National Geographic.

Due to the unique nature of the hotel, plus the fact that it’s not around year-round, it is not easy to get a good deal for this hotel, but it can be done.  I suggest booking through TripAdvisor, as they will provide you with the best price or this hotel if/when a good deal becomes available.
