Poutine is a delicious concoction of French fries and cheese curds topped with a brown gravy. Created in Quebec in the late 1950s, its exact origin is uncertain. Many consider poutine to be Canada’s national dish and it can be found everywhere today.
Ottawa PoutineFest
Canadians love poutine so much that Poutine Festivals have become very popular. Canada’s largest celebration of Poutine is the 2022 Ottawa PoutineFest. More than 30 poutine vendors will take over the downtown area of Canada’s capital city. These vendors will offer up their signature take on Ottawa’s favorite food. This is a fun way to try top Canadian chefs’ creative spins on a classic dish.
This free family friendly event will be happening on April 27, 2022, through May 1, 2022. It will take place at Ottawa City Hall at 110 Laurel Street outdoors. There is a nice grass area so you can bring a blanket or lawn chairs.
The PoutineFest will continue its tradition of supporting local food banks. It will collect donations of food and cash to help those in need in Ottawa.
The Fest will feature traditional and exotic Poutine and you can savor it all. There will be gluten free poutine and vegan poutine.
The PoutineFest is all about amazing food, fun and social. There will be live entertainment on the Cheese Curd Stage throughout the festival.
Bring the kids. There will be a Kids Zone with face painting, balloon animals and other activities. You can take part in the Poutine Eating Contest and the Poutine Judging Contest. Poutine vendors will be there with prices ranging from $6.50 to $15.00 for the best exotics. Other food trucks will also be at the Fest.
