The Do Eat Better Experience Freiburg Food Tour is a wonderful way to not only eat delicious food but also learn about the culture and history of Freiburg, Germany as well. You will understand why this is the case as I tell you more about the tour. Oh, and I’ll also tell you how you can save money on this experience with the discount!
A local guide will take you around town to at least four different spots. They will explain the selection of each restaurant and answer questions. By the end of the tour, you’ll have the equivalent of a full lunch.
Where you’ll go and what you’ll eat can change depending on the season and availability of the restaurants. But here is a sample itinerary:
- Schwabentor: As you head towards your first stop, you’ll pass by the historic Schwabentor, a Swabian Gate that was one of the gates of the city during the Middle Ages. You’ll get to enjoy the atmosphere of the old-town as you get to your destination. Once you get there, you’ll enjoy a Freiburg classic: a freshly baked local Bretzel.
- Freiburg Cathedral: Before you get to your next stop, you’ll get to walk past the iconic Freiburger Münster so you can see its soaring Gothic tower. When you get to your second destination, you’ll enjoy another local favorite, a traditional Freiburg sausage.
- Martinstor: Next you’ll pass through Martinstor, the oldest of the two surviving medieval gate towers in Freiburg. At the third stop, you’ll enjoy a traditional Black Forest plate paired with a crisp local beer so you’ll get that authentic experience.
- The Old Synagogue Square: You’ll then move through the area around the Platz der Alten Synagoge. The tour fittingly ends with a classic Black Forest cake.
