The American Aid Society of German Descendants is hosting 3 Oktoberfests on three different Saturdays – September 21, September 28 and October 5, 2024, from 6:30 pm to 12 am. These festivals will be celebrations of German culture and community.
Their Oktoberfest began in 1999 and the festival has grown larger each year by attracting a diverse crowd. The Oktoberfest transforms a picnic grove, outdoor pavilion, tent and giant hall into a mini Munich festival ground, creating an immersive cultural experience.
September 21, 2024, is the date of their first Oktoberfest. The Zicke Zacke Party Band will be performing. They are an authentic German band from Chicago, so bring your dancing shoes. There will also be a Pretzel Eating Contest, which is always fun.
September 28, 2024, is the date of the second Oktoberfest. The Phenix Band is a German American band from Forest Park, Illinois. The Rheinischer Fanfaren Drum & Bugle Corp will also be there performing.
The last Oktoberfest will be on October 5, 2024. The Phenix Band will again be performing. A youth group of traditional German folk dancers will also be performing.
At all the Oktoberfests, you can savor German delicacies, including sausages from renowned Wurstman Joseph Richardt and beverages. Other vendors at the festivals will include Kaiser’s Pizza & Pub, Village Bakery, Fox Lake, Schumacher, Imports, Miller Lite, Jagermeifter, Franks for the Memories and more.
