The Historic Village of Allaire was once an iron-producing factory town. Founded in 1822, the Howell Iron Works was the heart of the village. It was a self sufficient community containing a blacksmith shop, a carpentry and pattern making shop, a post office, a bakery, a blast furnace, a boarding house, mills to finish iron products, a school, a church, a general store and workers’ homes.
Today it is one of New Jersey’s premiere living history museums. Allaire has interactive exhibits and visitors can experience history directly through hands on activities.
You can now participate in a 19th century Easter celebration at the Historic Village of Allaire. The celebration offers a variety of Easter and spring activities.
Egg rolling was popular in the 1800s and the Easter Egg Roll at the White House debuted in 1878. The Allaire Easter celebration will have egg roll competitions with prizes as well as an egg toss.

There will be Easter selfie stations where you can take great photos for social media. You can enjoy decorating a bonnet.
