NYC Winter Lantern Festival
As the New Year approaches, make sure of one thing: that you visit the NYC Winter Lantern Festival! Yes, the NYC Winter Lantern Festival is back at Staten Island’s Snug Harbor Cultural Center & Botanical Garden. It runs through January 12, 2020.
It really is a magical event. There’s so much going on that makes this event a must-see.
Lanterns
There are over 1,000 lanterns on display at this Chinese-style lantern festival. They were created from paper in the shapes of dragons, dinosaurs, pandas, lions, flowers, and more.
Live Entertainment
But lanterns aren’t the only great thing you’ll see at the event. There are also live performances!

- Face-changing Magician (This is a sub-genre of Chinese Sichuan Opera where performers magically swap opera masks from one to another)
- Tibetan Folk Dance
- Straw Hat Juggling

- Seesaw Bowl Balance
