In Tysons, Virginia, the Lerner Town Square will be aglow with lights this winter. D.C. Winter Lantern Festival will be there, going through Sunday, February 18, 2024. It will open each evening at 5 pm and will close at 10 pm.
This is the second immersive Lantern Festival in the greater District of Columbia area. This lantern and light extravaganza is a winter event the entire family can enjoy.
Lerner Town Square will be transformed into a dazzling world full of light and full of color with over 1,000 lanterns and hundreds of LED lights. These are not kerosene lanterns. They are beautiful, elaborate Chinese lanterns, hand made by artisans who have spent decades perfecting their craft. LED lights inside the lanterns illuminate them.
The Chinese lanterns have been sculptured into awesome figures and symbols. Wander through this wonderland of light and color and see lanterns and lights representing Chinese myths, legends and signs of the Zodiac. You’ll also see the lanterns in a world of ice with polar bears, mammoths and penguins. Additionally, there will be interactive light swings and see-saws.
Walk through an immersive illuminated tunnel and enjoy the twinkling lights above and all around you. Go from one stunning larger than life display to another. This is the perfect place to make magic memories and to take Instagram worthy photos for social media.
