You’ll see the Tom Miller Dam, named for a former mayor of Austin. It was constructed in 1940 for flood control and hydroelectric power production.
You will also see Mount Bonnell, a lovely 5 acre park. It is located almost 800 feet over Lake Austin. Mount Bonnell has been a popular attraction since 1830. You can ascend 106 stone steps and be rewarded with a panoramic view of the city of Austin, Lake Austin and the surrounding western hills.
Be sure to bring your camera. There will be innumerable photo opportunities of the beautiful scenery.
