Looking for something fun to do in the Atlanta area this winter? It’s time to head to Gwinnett County Fairgrounds for the Winter Lantern Festival!
The Winter Lantern Festival will be in Lawrenceville, Georgia from now until January 5, 2025. It takes place on Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays. It lasts from 5:00 PM to 9:30 PM (with the last entrance to event being 8:30 PM).
The highlight of this event is, of course, the lanterns. There over 1,000 handcrafted lanterns. Prepare to walk through these lanterns and be amazed! You’ll see dinosaurs, dragons, pandas, turtles, polar bears, octopus, butterflies, flowers, and more – all made out of lanterns. Walking through all these lanterns around forty-five minutes.
While the lanterns may be the highlight (and literally in the name), there is more to do here. There are a lot of fun things for kids, for example. There are a lot of fun games and rides. New this year is a bounce house and trampolines.
Brand new this year is live entertainment. The award-winning Zigong Acrobatic Troupe will be there performing tricks like juggling, balancing, face-changing, and more.
There is also live music at the event. Getting to watch these talented performers is included in the price of your ticket.
There is a gift shop at the end selling memorabilia, toys, and games. There are a lot of great gift options for children and adults there – which is perfect during the holiday season.
If you get hungry or thirsty during the event, then don’t worry; there are plenty of food and drinks options for sale at the event.
