In many places in America, people ask what is there to do on the 4th of July.  What they really mean is there anything to do on that long weekend other than fireworks

But that’s not the case in Seattle.  When people there ask what to do on the Independence Day weekend, they are really asking what of the many things should they decide to do.  And many of these events are free!  If that sounds great, that’s because it is!

Fisher Pavilion at Seattle Center

On July 4, 2024, the Fisher Pavilion at Seattle Center will host the 39th annual Naturalization Ceremony on Independence Day.  The public is invited to observe as over 500 candidates are sworn in as new citizens of the United States of America.  Enjoy patriotic music and speeches.

The Seattle Civic Band will perform a free outdoor summer concert at the Ballard Locks on July 4 at 2 pm.  This will be happening on the lawn of the lovely Botanical Gardens.  You can bring a picnic lunch and a chair or blanket.

Settle in and enjoy.

Tacoma’s 4th of July Event

Tacoma’s 4th of July free family friendly day of celebration is the largest free community event in the South Sound.  Enjoy live music, crafts vendors, entertainment, children’s activities, food and fireworks at 10 pm for 20 minutes.

On July 4, Gas Works Park will have a Kids Zone, hydration stations, interactive displays, vendor marketplace, “howitzer blast off ceremony” and a glow in the dark dance party.

Since these are outdoor events, you might want to consider wearing sunscreen to protect your skin.  You can check out this list of Vegan Sunscreen options.

Seafair Summer Fourth of July

Seafair Summer Fourth of July was voted one of the best fireworks shows by USA Today and Business Insider.  Fireworks will be exploding over Lake Union at 10:20 pm.

Pullyup

Pullyup’s July 3rd Red, White & Kaboom family run/walk 5K will be held at the Washington State Fairgrounds.

Pullyup’s free Red, White & Varoom Fourth of July celebration  is a  fun  family event.  The festival features a car show, live music, kids zone, corn hole, food trucks, a beer garden and fireworks.

If you’re going to attend one of these events, you might want to wear your most patriotic outfit.  If you need help with this, you can get outfit inspiration here.

Seattle Mariners

July 4th and baseball go hand in hand.  Over the long holiday weekend, the Seattle Mariners will have home games.

On July 3 and 4, the Mariners will play the Baltimore Orioles at T-Mobile Park.  On July 5 and 6, the Mariners will play the Toronto Blue Jays at T-Mobile Park.
