Back for its third year by popular demand, Rock The Gates Music Festival will be returning to the United Irish Cultural Center (UICC) in San Francisco. This will be happening on Saturday, August 24, 2024, from 2 pm to 10 pm. The mission of this event is to bring people together with the universal language of music.
The United Irish Cultural Center of San Francisco celebrates, promotes and preserves the rich cultural heritage of Ireland. They foster cultural awareness through education, arts and social events.
UICC was the first Irish social center in the United States and it was built completely by volunteer labor and community contributions in the early 1970s.
So you have to figure there will be Irish bands and Irish dancing at the Rock The Gates Music Festival. And you’d be right, you will see that at the festival. But there will also be tribute bands and other bands with a variety of musical styles. And there will be all kinds of dancing.
If you like music, you will love this festival. The Irish Cultural Center staff have worked very hard to assemble an impressive line up of talent. This year they will have five stages. The Irish Pipers will be there. Dance groups from some of the local Irish dance schools will be performing.
Rock The Gates Music Festival is a family friendly event. There will be face painting and a bounce house for the kids.
Visit the UICC’s Irish Shoppe for tasty treats from Ireland and Rock The Gates Music Festival and St. Patrick’s Day T-shirts. There will be food and drink concessions. Vendors will be at the festival with unique items for sale. And you can enjoy an art exhibition.
