You hear Phoenix, Arizona, and you think about sunny days and golf courses.  Most people don’t think of Phoenix’s beginnings in the Wild West.  It was a lawless time when gunfights were not uncommon.  “The Deuce” was the city’s most notorious red district with its casinos, bars and brothels.

Many people who visit Phoenix don’t realize that the city has numerous hotspots of paranormal activity.  Many locals believe the angry spirits of outlaws and murderers and the anguish of their victims have given rise to apparitions and phenomena for which there is no reasonable explanation.  Phoenix’s past is not past, it’s still there.

Take The Winds of Fire & Whispers of the Desert Phoenix Ghost Tour and learn about the dark side of the Valley of the Sun.   You’ll visit some of Phoenix’s most haunted places and hear tales of violence, tragedy, greed, murder and betrayal.

Melinda’s Alley

Melinda was a mysterious resident of Phoenix.  She was outspoken and could be raucous.  Melinda was no stranger to the police.  She also had morals and she would take up for people who were being hurt by others.  Her apartment was in the Monroe Alley next to the Adams Hotel.

No one knows why or by whom, but Melinda was murdered in the alley.  This was more than a hundred years ago, but, to this day, people report still seeing her apparition in the alley.  The alley is known to locals as “Melinda’s Alley.”

Hotels

You’ll see the San Carlos Hotel and hear about the “Lady in White.”  You’ll also see the downtown Hilton Garden Inn where guests have seen shadowy figures in the halls and heard disembodied voices.

St. Mary’s Basilica is the oldest Catholic church in Phoenix.  People have reported seeing two headless female figures in the doorway to the church.  There have also been reports of people seeing strange figures roaming around the property at night.

Constructed in 1875, the Rossen House is one of the oldest houses in Phoenix.  It is a beautiful Victorian house that was turned into a museum in 1980.

A museum employee was shot and killed right outside the Rossen House.  Since then, both staff and visitors have reported seeing a ghostly figure roaming the halls.

You can learn about the history of Phoenix in an entertaining as well as educational way.  The tour begins at 8 pm ensuring darkness to go along with the dark stories you’ll be hearing.
