Germany is the perfect place to travel to for Christmas.  A lot of our favorite holiday traditions actually come from Germany.  For example, the Christmas tree and the Advent calendar both originated in Germany.

So a trip to Germany at Christmastime would be great.  And a trip to Munich would be wonderful because Munich is famous for its beautiful, picturesque Christmas markets.

But if you visit Munich during the holiday season, you’ll want to make sure you really get to experience Christmas there.  And you can do that with one of these five tours.  We picked them out as the best Munich experiences at Christmas time.  Some of them even include visits to other Christmas markets in other cities in Germany (and even Austria).

And make sure you click our link.  Then you can book these tours and experiences at a great price!

1. 2-Hour Christmas Markets in Munich Tour

As I mentioned before, the Christmas markets in Munich are world-famous.  So taking a two-hour guided tour of the Christmas markets would be perfect!

First, you will go to Christkindlmarkt.  You’ll walk along the Old Town Center and visit the traditional stalls.  You will learn about the display’s meanings and the Christmas rituals associated with them.

But that’s not all.  You’ll also head to the Christmas markets around Marienplatz, the Christmas village in Munich’s grandiose Royal Residence, the crib market and the Medieval Market near Odeonsplatz.

2. Christmas Market Hopping with Sightseeing Tour

This three-hour Munich tour combines Christmas market hopping with a sightseeing tour.  It is a small group tour provided by SeeSaw Sight.  You’ll be taken through Munich’s landmarks and hidden corners of the city center.  A neat part about the tour is that it comes with a souvenir and a hot drink (alcoholic or non-alcoholic).

3. 4-Day Munich Christmas Markets Tour

Want more time exploring the Munich Christmas markets?  Then consider this 4-day tour.  In addition to visiting the Munich Christmas markets, you’ll also get a walking tour of the city and an included night visit to one of Munich’s most famous beerhalls, as well as a daytime trip to Dachau concentration camp and memorial.

4. 8-Day Christmas Markets of Austria, Germany & Switzerland

Maybe Christmas markets in one city isn’t enough for you.  Perhaps you’d like to explore multiple Christmas markets all over Europe.

In that case, consider this 8-day Christmas market tour.

The tour begins in Vienna, Austria.  You’ll get to see so much during this tour.  Highlights of the tour include:

    • Innsbruck, Austria
  • A walking tour of “Sound of Music” sights, like Mirabell Gardens in Salzburg, Austria
