Santa’s Red Express

The Nights of Lights in St. Augustine, Florida is kind of a big deal.  Like, National Geographic has chosen it before as one of the best holiday light displays in the world.  So, if you are near St. Augustine, you’re going to want to check these Christmas lights out.  My family has made sure we stopped through St. Augustine on the way to Orlando before just to see the lights.

If you’re looking for a way to see these lights, then consider taking Santa’s Red Express.  Santa’s Red Express is offered by Ripley’s St. Augustine as part of their Red Train Tours.  You’ll ride around town on “Santa’s sleigh”.  It is a wonderful way to see the beautiful holiday lights.

It is better than driving around town yourself for a few reasons.  First of all, they know all the best places to go to see the best lights.  Secondly, the trolley vehicle means there are no windows.  This gives you the ability to take unobstructed videos and pictures.  And thirdly, you miss out on a lot if you are driving yourself.  But no one in your family or group will have to drive if you are all on Santa’s Red Express!

Santa’s Red Express starts and concludes at (appropriately) Ripley’s Believe It or Not! Free parking is available for you, but it is available for guests on a first-come, first-serve basis.  And from my experience, parking lots fill up really quickly so keep that in mind.  Also, you’ll need to get there fifteen minutes before your scheduled time anyway.  It takes place nightly between now and January 31st, 2021.

Now, obviously, this year is different than other Christmas seasons in the past.  More safety precautions have to be taken to keep people as safe as possible of COVID-19.  One of the safety precautions Ripley’s is taking is to require reservations and limit people on the sleigh.  So make sure you buy your ticket ASAP because a lot of the best dates and times have already sold out.
