Winter Wander Trail of Lights at Boar’s Head Resort in Charlottesville is one of the top Christmas light events in Virginia.  It is a holiday event featuring Christmas lights, live performances, gorgeous photo opportunities, and more.  And you can experience this family-friendly event at a discounted price here.

But first, let’s talk more about what you can expect at this event.  It is a beautiful event where you can walk around the picturesque setting of Boar’s Head Resort and see sparkling holiday lights glistening in the night sky.  It is a half-mile, easy-access trail around Heritage Lake with thousands of holiday lights.  It takes place from November 14, 2025, through January 3, 2026.

Here are some of the highlights of the event:

  • Glistening Grove: Watch 700 illuminated light posts sparkle in harmony with a 20-minute musical composition
  • Enchantment District: The dancers are back this year, performing two new live shows under the big top:
    • Candy Cane Lane
    • Nutcracker in Lights
  • Elevation Illumination: A 200-drone spectacle
    • Takes place November 15th & 16th and December 17th & 18th (weather permitting)
    • Two shows per night at 6:00 PM and 8:00 PM
  • Tunnel of Lights: An illuminated pathway that makes a wonderful photo opportunity.
  • The Welcome Tree: A 35-foot holiday tree serving that is the starting point for the lakeside stroll
  • Fountain of Dreams: A 12-foot-tall centerpiece which uses light to look like water shooting up in the air.  It is surrounded by 8 smaller fountains, which create a great display of light.
  • Wander Outpost: Warm up here with a snack or a cup of hot chocolate
