I just got back from a family trip to Orlando, Florida.  We stayed at the Walt Disney World Swan hotel, which is a great hotel to stay in if you want to visit Disney World.  You can walk or take a boat to both Epcot and Hollywood Studios theme parks.  And you are also a short walk away from Disney’s Boardwalk.  Disney’s Boardwalk is a dining, entertainment, and shopping area themed to early 20th century Atlantic City and Ocean City.  It is also connected to Disney’s Boardwalk Inn, a great hotel we reviewed here.

So no matter when I made this trip, I would have wanted to stop by the Boardwalk to check out everything.  But I was especially glad to be visiting when I did.  And that is because Disney very recently opened up a new ice cream shop on the Boardwalk!  It replaced the former Ample Hills Creamery.  As a lover of trying all new Disney things – and as a lover of ice cream – I knew I had to check it out!

Boardwalk Ice Cream: Building & Menu

This new shop is fittingly called Boardwalk Ice Cream.  So it’s kind of hard to miss it as you walk along the Boardwalk.

Boardwalk Ice Cream is a new dining establishment on Disney's Boardwalk in the Epcot & Hollywood Studios area of Disney World

It’s not too large inside.  It just basically exists for you to stand in line and order your ice cream.

You can order ice cream at Disney's Boardwalk Resort & then eat it inside

But there are lots of chairs and tables outside along the Boardwalk.  So you can eat your ice cream while enjoying wonderful views of the Yacht & Beach Club across the water.  I don’t normally like eating outside at Disney World because it is often so hot, but if you are eating ice cream, that helps cool you down.

So about the ice cream.  There are so many options to choose from!

You can get anything from a Scoop to a Sundae.  They have great creations like Bayside Brownie À la Mode and Thundering Surf Peanut Butter and Chocolate Sundae.  They are inspired by Beaches and Cream Soda Shop, a great restaurant we reviewed here.

Boardwalk Ice Cream serves a great variety of flavors, too.

So with all of those options, what did I choose?  I ended up going a bit simple.  I chose Rainbow Sherbet.

Boardwalk Ice Cream at Disney World in Orlando, Florida has lots of ice cream flavors like this rainbow sherbert

Now, this is a flavor I used to eat all the time as a kid but hadn’t in years.  My family used to go a restaurant after Church on Sundays and I would always order Rainbow Sherbet.  Rainbow Sherbet as an ice cream flavor intrigued me as a kid honestly because it was green.  I was obsessed with the color green so I wanted to eat green ice cream.  But then I kept choosing it because I loved it.

And eating the Rainbow Sherbet at Boardwalk Ice Cream brought me right back to those memories.  It was just as, if not more so, delicious than I remembered.  And those memories are such great memories, it was nice having them again.  And isn’t that what Disney World is about?  Getting to relive wonderful memories of yesteryear while making brand new wonderful memories?

And by the way, my mother had the Mint Chocolate Chip.  She is not even a big ice cream fan, and she thought it was delicious.

So I definitely recommend visiting Boardwalk Ice Cream next time you are at Disney World!  Especially if you are staying nearby at the Swan, Dolphin, Boardwalk, Beach Club, or Yacht Club.
