My family recently had the pleasure of staying at Grand Floridian Resort & Spa at Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida.  We love staying at hotels with a monorail to Magic Kingdom.  So we’ve stayed at the Polynesian Village Resort and Contemporary Resort a lot.

But this was our first time at Grand Floridan.  There was a time where I thought Grand Floridian was just to expensive to justify the cost of this hotel.  But was before I found out about David’s Vacation Rentals.

David’s Vacation Rental is a way to rent Disney Vacation Club villas at Disney World hotels for a mere fraction of the cost.  You don’t have to be a Disney Vacation Club member to do it, too.  And you just pay one price, no taxes or parking fees included.  My family was able to stay here for under $400/night.  Considering sometimes rooms at Grand Floridan can cost as much as $1000/night, needless to say, we were very excited about the low price of this hotel.  So we definitely recommend that you use David’s Vacation Club Rentals to book a room at Grand Floridian, too.

Especially because we had an amazing time.  Because as I said, we had wanted to stay here a really long time.  And sometimes when that happens, the expectations can be too high and it won’t live up to the hype.  But that was absolutely not the case here.  We loved our time at the Grand Floridian and we were so sad when we had to leave.

So why did we love our stay so much?  I think you can get an idea yourself when you watch our video.

Grand Floridian Virtual Tour

Grand Floridian Layout & Rooms

We start off by showing you our room.  This is one a Disney Vacation Club villa.  It is part of a separate Disney Vacation Club wing of the Grand Floridian.  It is connected to the main building via a covered walkway.  This is really great if it is raining and it also helps protect you from the hot Florida sun.  You’ll see how easy the walk is in this video.

So you can see in this video how great these rooms are.  Because it is a Disney Vacation Club room, it comes with a full kitchen.  This can really save you money on your stay because you can actually cook in your room.  You can also take home leftovers from restaurants at Disney World and get a second meal out of it, too.  You’ll also notice a couch in this video.  The studio has a bed and a sofa which pulls out to a surprisingly comfortable sofa bed.  There is also another pull out bed with a Dumbo theme which you’ll see in the video.

This video also takes you through the other sections of the hotel.  You’ll see Sago Cay, Sugar Loaf Key, etc.  If you want to stay in one of those rooms you’ll probably pay more, but if you do I suggest booking through Undercover Tourist to get a better price.

Grand Floridian Dining

We also show you some of the dining options here in this video.  Grand Floridian has a great mix of dining options.  You can get quick-service at Gasparilla Island Grill.  You can see some of the food we got that came in boxes.  You can it there, in the dining outside, or even in your room.

We also show you some of the sit-down dining options here like the Grand Floridian Cafe, Citricos, and Narcoossee’s.  We even show you some of the delicious pancakes we got at the Grand Floridian Cafe.  You can get a peek into the new Beauty & the Beast-themed Enchanted Rose, which serves beers, wines, and cocktails.

Grand Floridian Amenities & Recreational Activities

One of the things that makes Grand Floridian so great, aside from the fact you can literally walk to Magic Kingdom, are all the things you can do at this hotel.

Let’s start with the pools, which you can see in this video.  They have multiple pools with great features.  There’s a beach pool that overlooks the Seven Seas Lagoon.  I really loved the Alice in Wonderland-themed children’s splash area.  It’s always neat seeing the bucket come down and splash water.  You’ll notice this in the video.  You can also see the poolside cabanas in this video.

This video also shows you the marina at the Grand Floridian.  You can go fishing here or rent a boat.  If you look past the boats, you can see great views of Cinderella’s Castle!

Want to get in some exercise during your Disney vacation?  We show you the basketball court and health club.

Grand Floridian has the distinction of being one of the only Disney hotels that has an on-site spa!  We show you Senses, which is a Victorian-themed, full-service spa where you can get massages, body treatments, etc.

We show you other neat things you might not even think of when booking a stay at Grand Floridian.  You can see the movie under the stars (that night it was Disney’s Enchanted).  You can see the piano player playing in the lobby.  This really is an amazing hotel!

Oh – and the DVC building of the Grand Floridian is located right next to Disney’s Wedding Pavilion!  So expect to see that in the video, too!  And Picture Point, the perfect place to get the perfect wedding photo!
